Today, the High Seas Treaty officially enters into force, marking a historic milestone for global ocean governance.

Adopted on 19 June 2023 under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
(UNCLOS), the Treaty establishes the first comprehensive legal framework to conserve and sustainably manage marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction. Covering 64% of the ocean’s surface, this Agreement will enable the creation of marine protected areas,

strengthen fishing regulations, and foster international cooperation offering vital protection for species like pelagic sharks and rays that depend on the high seas.

Thrilled to begin 2026 by exploring the Dubai International Arbitration Centre
(DIAC) and its pivotal role in advancing Dubai’s vision to establish itself as a
