For us Sri Lankans, it is usually the time of the year where traditional new year tables are laid with a range of traditional and scrumptious delights, and is a time of celebration with friends and families, playing fun games and visiting the dear and the near.

Sadly, this year things aren’t the same back home, as my country is facing one of its worse economic and political crises while people are struggling for basic needs.

But this is also the year where the entire country will celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil new year united as one nation irrespective of religion and race and I want the world to remember my beautiful Lanka as a culturally diverse yet a united nation with a new generation that stands against corruption and works toward positive changes.

So here’s bringing to the table the crisis that united a nation as we celebrate this new year as nothing else but SRI LANKANS !!!!
