It’s been a lot lately. Here’s what I do to zone out.
Working out, and actually taking recovery seriously for the first time. Normatec + a show is my current combination.
Currently in the rotation: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Trust Me: False Prophet, The Pitt, and 27 Dresses on a loop because sometimes you just need a rom-com.
What are you watching? Always taking recommendations.

There are two kinds of loneliness nobody talks about. The kind that comes from being surrounded by people who see your life but don’t quite understand all the parts that made you. And the kind that comes from people who know exactly where you came from but can’t picture where you are now.
Belonging, for me, has been finding the people who let you bring all your pieces and who bring all of theirs.
This is Abby. We met in Cairo in 1998 and she has visited me more times than I can count. She is a bridge between my past, my present, and my future. The sister I never had. That is what I found here, and what I carry with me.

I have a mixed ethnocultural background and have lived all over the world. For most of my life, I felt at home everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
The UAE changed that. I have spent fifteen years here in total, thirteen of them in a row (the longest I have ever stayed anywhere). For the first time, all the different parts of me feel like they belong somewhere. I have never been more settled, more myself, or more certain that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.
The thought of leaving has never once crossed my mind. This is home, in every sense of the word. ❤️🇦🇪
