In a press release conducted by the Sense About Science organisation in 2006, many health professionals were brought together to discuss the new detox therapy phenomenon. This helps combat some of the myths established by the advocates of detoxification as a scientific light is shone upon them. The main points raised in this conference stressed that detox products are a waste of money and no scientific evidence is available to support the claims behind these products. Moreover, it was agreed that detox diets are not needed as the body’s detoxification system is sufficient enough for eliminating any harmful substances from the body.
