WALDORF ASTORIA CHECKS IN AT DUBAI’S ICONIC PALM JUMEIRAH



After making its grand opening in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, luxury operator Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, part of the Hilton Worldwide’s luxury brand, announced plans to open its second hotel in Dubai. The 319-room Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, will be located on the East Crescent of the Palm Jumeirah island and will offer guests breath-taking views of the Arabian Gulf coastline and some of Dubai’s famous landmarks. With its opening, the luxury operator will bring to Dubai the ‘True Waldorf Service’ – a service initiative that assigns a personal concierge to each qualified guest, who acts as their primary contact, before, during and – an industry first – after their stay at the hotel.At the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, guests will be spoilt for choice with six sumptuous restaurants offering some of the finest cuisine, including a jewel in the culinary crown – the New York inspired Social by Heinz Beck, a fashionably stylish eatery by multi-award winning master of gastronomy, European chef and author Heinz Beck.

BUGATTI VEYRON ‘MEO COSTANTINI’ EDITION UNVEILED AT THE DUBAI MOTOR SHOW

Bugatti has reached the mid-way of its six-part ‘Les Legendes de Bugatti’ series by rolling out the third edition commemorating another special hero who played a pivotal role in the company’s history. Unveiled at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show, the third special edition Veyron is dedicated to Meo Costantini. Know to be a close personal friend of Ettore Bugatti himself, Meo Costantini raced Bugattis in the 1920s and later manage the factory racing team. He won the Targa Florio twice in a Bugatti Type 35, a model that went down in history as one of the most successful racing cars ever made, and won several grand prix. On the inside, the cabin is upholstered completely in leather with the roof, foot-well, center sections of the seats and rear wall are all wrapped in the shade of brown and the rest of the parts have a dark blue hue. Only three of these special editions of the Bugatti Veyron Meo Costantini edition will be made with the price pegged at 2.09 million euros ($2.82 million) each.

ULYSSE NARDIN UNVEILS THE REDESIGNED FREAK CRUISER

The iconic Freak that has constantly displayed newer métiers of haute horology has now come out with its latest timepiece. A horological marvel of great ingenuity, the Ulysse Nardin Freak Cruiser follows in the footsteps of the Phantom. Surrounded by waves with a bezel dressed in aquatic fluting and a floating anchor in the form of a swing bridge, it takes to its predecessor’s avant-garde leanings.The Dual Ulysse escapement carries its own watchmaking mastery. Abandoning the traditional anchor and anchor wheel, its non-lubricated architecture incorporates two silicon impulse wheels at its center, each equipped with 18 active teeth. These teeth engage in turn, in a manner that minimizes friction. An alligator strap with matching gold deployant buckle completes this timepiece that is both elegant and revolutionary.

A DIAMOND-STUDDED SPECIAL EDITION ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM DEBUTS AT DUBAI MOTOR SHOW

The 2013 edition of Dubai Motor Show kicked-off yesterday and Rolls Royce has built a special edition one-off Phantom for the event. The British automaker unveiled a special version of the Celestial Phantom which made its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show this year. The original Celestial Phantom’s USP is its starlight headliner studded with more than 1000 optical fiber lights which mimics the night sky of 1st January, 2003 to celebrate the birth of Phantom. To add to the bling value of the Celestial Phantom, the special edition is encrusted with 446 diamonds. Middle East continues to be the biggest market for Rolls Royce Bespoke cars and this special edition diamond encrusted Celestial Phantom seems to be an appropriate highlight of the Rolls Royce stand at the Dubai Motor Show. There is no information on its pricing or availability. It is accompanied by two more special edition Rollers; the Phantom Coupe Chicane edition that made its debut a few days back and the Alpine Trial Centenary Collection Ghost are also put on show.
