Հոդվածում դիտարկում ենք, թե ինչպես է iBiom Inc.-ի Blue Hole Agency նախագիծը բացահայտում մերօրյա երկարակեցության մոլուցքի մշակութային, տնտեսական և գաղափարական մեխանիզմները։ Նախագիծը, որը վերջերս ներկայացված էր Երևանի bjij ստորգետնյա պատկերասրահում, հնարավորություն տվեց մոտիկից տեսնել, թե ինչպես է «երկար կյանքը» վերածվում սպառողական պատկերացման՝ կորպորատիվ խոստումներով, վելնես շուկայի գեղագիտությամբ և տեխնո-օպտիմիստական երազանքով հյուսված մի ամբողջ ինդուստրիայի։ «Երկար կյանքը» ներկայացնելու փոխարեն՝ որպես չեզոք գիտական ձգտում, հոդվածում ցույց եմ տալիս, թե ինչպես են բիոհաքինգի էսթետիկան, սոցցանցերով տարածվող անմահության խորհուրդները և ինքնաօպտիմալացման միթոսները միասին կառուցում մի ապագայի պատրանք, որտեղ ծերացումը կարծես թե հնարավոր է կառավարել կամ հետաձգել։ Տեղադրանքը bjij-ի ստորգետնյա միջավայրում ընդգծում է նաև այն, թե ինչպես են գլոբալ կենսատեխնոլոգիական երևակայությունները շրջանառվում արվեստային ծայրամասերում՝ միաժամանակ բացահայտելով դրանց գրավչությունն ու հակասությունները։ Աշխատանքը հրավիրում է ընթերցողին վերաիմաստավորելու երկարակեցության խոստումների մեջ թաքնված ասիմետրիաները, ֆանտազիաներն ու էքստրակտիվ տրամաբանությունները և հարցադրելու՝ ինչպիսի ապագաներ են իրականում սպասարկվում այդ պատմություններով։

In this article, we examine how iBiom Inc.’s “Blue Hole Agency” project exposes the cultural, economic, and ideological mechanisms behind today’s fixation on longevity. The project, recently on view at bjij, Yerevan’s underground gallery, offered a close-up encounter with how “long life” becomes a consumable fantasy—woven from corporate promises, wellness-industry aesthetics, and techno-optimist dreams that collectively sustain an entire marketplace of extended-life aspirations. Rather than framing longevity as a neutral scientific pursuit, I trace how the aesthetics of biohacking, the social-media circulation of immortality rituals, and myths of self-optimization construct the illusion of a future where aging can be controlled or postponed. Presented within bjij’s subterranean setting, the installation also highlights how global biotechnological imaginaries circulate within peripheral art spaces, revealing both their seductive appeal and their underlying contradictions. The article invites readers to reconsider the asymmetries, fantasies, and extractive logics embedded in the pursuit of longevity, and to question what kinds of futures these narratives truly serve.

Ars Techne × Studio 20 Collective invite artists to apply for Mattering Worlds, a media art residency exploring more-than-human ecologies, new materialist thinking, and the agencies of matter.

About the Residency
Mattering Worlds asks artists to study how relationships between humans and technology, humans and nature, and between humans and material forces create new worlds. The residency program, based on new materialism and posthuman thought, views matter as an active force that participates in creating meaning.
The residency program accepts artists who explore the vitality of materials, the connections between living and nonliving systems, and the hidden structures that enable worldbuilding and ongoing transformation. The residency encourages experimentation, critical reflection, and collaborative inquiry as ways of imagining how we might inhabit the planet otherwise—responsibly, attentively, and in sympoietic relation with the more-than-human.

We welcome artists whose work engages:

✨ Ecology & posthumanism
✨ Material or infrastructural research
✨ Sound, video, installation, performance
✨ Research-based or experimental practices

What We Offer
• Studio space in Yerevan or Gyumri

On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, Ars Techne is pleased to share a critical reflection on modern ecological crises through the lens of Marxist theory.

This reflection engages critically with Bruno Latour and Nikolaj Schultz’s On the Emergence of an Ecological Class, placing its propositions into dialogue with Marxist ecological thought.

The text explores how political struggle is reshaped in an age where the Earth can no longer be seen as a neutral resource, but rather as a terrain marked by historical exploitation and structural breakdown. At the heart of this analysis is the concept of the metabolic rift, as developed by John Bellamy Foster and Brett Clark in The Robbery of Nature. Their work outlines how capitalist systems systematically disrupt the exchange between human societies and the ecosystems that sustain them.

By bringing together foundational political economy and contemporary relational perspectives, the piece asks what forms of connection, reproduction, and prosperity might guide a just social and ecological transition.
