I recently randomly opened Austin Kleon's "Keep Going" and came across some ideas that resonated with me. He wrote about the importance of treating work as play, and focusing on the act of doing itself rather than just seeing it as a means to an end. This idea overlaps with Eckhart Tolle's teachings, which I've been listening to a lot lately.
Immediately, I felt inspired to draw a little cartoon just for the sake of it. I had a lot of fun doing it, even though I'm not sure whether it's good or bad - and honestly, I don't really care. I'm happy I just played like a little kid for a little while :)
I'm grateful to be reminded by the book about the importance of taking time to have fun and not always being worried about creating something amazing. It's so easy to get caught up in the pressure to create something perfect, but sometimes the best way to be creative is just to let go and have fun.
By the way, the cartoon was inspired by a great series my wife and I are currently watching called "High Maintenance" - we're loving it! If you're looking for something fresh to watch, definitely check it out

I’m so excited to start this book! I picked it up on a beautiful walk with my family and can't wait to dive in. Lately, I've realized on a deeper level how important it is for me to learn how life works in order to navigate it successfully. Trying to understand the principles of reality and life feels good. Of course, discomfort and pain are also valuable teachers and I wouldn't leave experience out of the equation, but it is a blessing to have access to the hard-earned wisdom of our ancestors and living in a moment of history in which good books are widely available. I am grateful for the opportunity to read this one and to better understand myself and human behavior, both the light and dark aspects of it.

Starting the year off fresh with a clear and achievable goal in mind: simplify work as much as possible and strive for a consistent yet healthy work routine. This year, I'm committing to working 3 hours a day, 4 days a week on my projects and I'm excited to see where it takes me. I've finally gotten to know my limits and now that I'm working less on my projects, I'm more thrilled than ever when it's time to get down to business. It may seem like a small amount of time, but I'm amazed at how much more productive and excited I am to work now that I've found the right balance.
