…and breathe.
This past weekend marked the most successful market in ART’s short history. Three days of utter madness - I want to thank for putting on the event. I think it’s safe to say you’ll see me again next year in Hahndorf.
I also want to thank the tens of thousands (!!!) of people who came by to shop and support local makers and artisans. You help us put food on the table and to keep doing what we love to do, and that is a treasure beyond price.
After any big market season, you need to buy more supplies for the next round of making. In my case, that means making a trip to ! Located in Beverley SA, this is one of the places I go to if I want interesting timber for turning. The first two photos above are just the tiniest fraction of the species they sell. It really is my happy place. 😊
Of course, sometimes you have a customer request for a timber that’s a bit harder to come by. In the event that my preferred supplier doesn’t have what I want/need, I go hunting…which is how I came across these pieces of Australian Sandalwood (last photo). It’s in the same genus as Indian Sandalwood, but with a lower santalol content. It’s still going to smell AMAZING when I put it on the lathe - I can’t wait! 😍
