Having failed in Maths at school I know what it is like to have Maths anxiety. I needed maths for my degree in graphic design, so went back to college. I studied at my own pace in a logical order. The fog lifted.
Many years later I taught maths and art to children with speech language impairment. I realised that meaningful resources are not available for children with learning disabilities.
I created a whole new program, 92 lessons, using the resources that I designed.
For example, rather than teaching place value with blocks, I use apples.
These can be cut up or grouped and even eaten.
Children relate to them because they are familiar.
English is my passion. I have created illustrated stories that also teach sight words, digraphs and grammatical features.
Furthermore, I have created emotional regulation and mindfulness flash cards to help regulate in difficult times.

I was teaching equivalent fractions today - so important to understand the concept. Get out the apples and cut them up. Adsk your child to teach you (then you will know if they understand). Really work on this concept as it is so important as work progresses. Knowledge of times tables is becoming so important!
