About the My Mini Valentine showcase:

The Madly In Love with Handmade Network Groupies join forces to bring you the annual My Mini Valentine Showcase, this time featuring our talented Australian Patternmaker, Bobkin Designs. Inspired by the idea of presenting your mini with a special outfit for a Valentines family outing, the groupies creative use of Bobkin patterns offer you the chance to give your mini a beautiful Valentines gift. Stay tuned, it is truly a beautiful showcase!

The MILWH network holds a group of Australian handmade business owners. It is a positive, interactive space where we network amongst each other and bounce ideas. From time to time we hold a promotion on behalf of the group through the host’s page, Mini Mad by MAD Clothing. And this time it’s MMV!

Words from Mrs Bobkin herself, here is why we love and support her so much:

"Sewing started out as a day job for me and both my Mother and Aunt were commercial seamstresses. I did the 9-5 in the commercial fashion industry for a few decades before having children. Even then I still worked for family as a commercial machine embroiderer and as a seamstress for some of my favourite designer’s part time.

If it was just my trade and my family weren’t so creative, I could of let it go once I had children. But it is more than that, I grew up around a few generations of creative people. Some of my family members still own businesses within the industry and that isn’t restricted to the females in our clan. At family get togethers the conversation usually turns to the industry we all love and the creative side we are all so passionate about.

My business today still doesn’t feel like work to me. It’s more of hobby on steroids that I get to do every day. I started Bobkin back in 2010 and it was all about sewing back then. Or micro manufacturing as my family like to call it. I fitted Bobkin in between work and looking after our four children. I then commenced a pattern making course so that I could sell my designs. Learning to turn a hand drafted pattern into a downloadable pdf was definitely one of the hardest things I have learned. I am still learning and that is the part of this industry I love. It changes and adapts and I don’t think I will ever tire of that. To me Bobkin is forever evolving as I am pursuing different aspects of my trade and what I have to give back to it.

I still have baby dresses that were handmade by my Grandmother and Great Grandmother, hanging in my wardrobe. Each generation of my family have crochet blankets and items our Mothers, Aunts Grandparents and Great Grandparents have made for us. There is something very special about having handmade items your loved ones have created for you. Made with love are the two words that really do some up Handmade perfectly." - Mrs Bobkin

Collectively, we hope you enjoy the My Mini Valentine showcase and we thank you for your positive response to our creations. # # #
