🏅 It was a privilege to support the Redlands Coast Special Olympics bid for the National Games in Melbourne this October. Special Olympics Australia is part of a global movement improving inclusion through sport for people with intellectual disability and/or autism, and it was wonderful to share the occasion with local athletes, volunteers, businesses and community partners.

Also in attendance were Henry Pike MP, Deputy Mayor Julie Talty, Cr Rowanne McKenzie, Cr Peter Mitchell, and Ms Suzie Tafolo, President of the Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce.

As Special Olympics Australia marks its 50th anniversary, we wish our Redlands athletes every success as they prepare for the National Games. 👏

At the Council General Meeting on 17 June, I moved a notice of motion asking Council to take a measured and fair step in response to serious public concerns raised about alleged conduct at a meeting on 27 April 2026.
The motion did not ask Council to make findings, assign blame, or determine what occurred. It simply sought to have the matter referred through the appropriate independent pathway so there could be clarity, fairness and confidence in the process.
When serious allegations involving bullying, intimidation, harassment or disrespectful behaviour are raised publicly, they should be handled properly. That protects everyone involved and helps maintain community confidence in Council.
