To the year that saw a plague infect millions.
To the year that saw a plague take untold thousands upon thousands of lives from us.
To the year that brought on hunger for millions of people around the world.

You taught us how much we need each other.
You taught us to value this planet.
You taught us to slow down.
You brought social justice into our thinking.
You made us aware of how we impact each other.
You helped us be grateful for the little things.
You gave us the opportunity to be creative in how we do the little things.
You helped us focus on what really matters.

I wouldn't wish 2020 on my worst enemy, but I'm so grateful I got to go through it. It's changed me, I've learned lessons that I could not have learned any other way. I'm different. In good ways.

My family and I had such fun looking at Christmas lights in the city on the weekend. The lights were a little brighter this year. They shone through the dark with a greater focus and clarity.
