This weekend I had one of the challenges that I like: to create a cake without an specific theme! Ana just requested me a cake with a flavour that I normally don’t make but it’s very popular in Brazil: “pão de mel”, kind of a honey spiced cake with dulce de leite filling.
It was for her 33th birthday but she is also 33 weeks pregnant and it was Mother’s day. So I just used some tulip 🌷 like stencil over chocolate buttercream and some details in gold. Very simple and pretty. That’s what I mean when I say we don’t need many decorations to make a beautiful cake. ❤️🎂🌷

Have you ever read the book “The Little Prince?”
These beautiful cakes were inspired on this French novel by Antoine Saint-Exupéry, read by 10 out of 10 kids back in Brazil back on the days.

“The Little Prince teaches that the responsibility demanded by relationships with others leads to a greater understanding and appreciation of one’s responsibilities to the world in general. The story of the prince and his rose is a parable about the nature of real love. The prince leaves his planet because of the rose; the rose permeates the prince’s discussions with the narrator; and eventually, the rose becomes the reason the prince wants to return to his planet. The source of the prince’s love is his sense of responsibility toward his beloved rose. When the fox asks to be tamed, he explains to the little prince that investing oneself in another person makes that person, and everything associated with him or her, more special. The Little Prince shows that what one gives to another is even more important than what that other gives back in return.”

So little prince Yuki is on his way to the grown ups planet and his parents can’t wait to have him in their arms and teach him everything about love! As I’m a person who likes to make abstract cakes and desserts I brought a little bit from the story to the cake without making a super themed cake full of elements and toppings. Focusing on the colours and some few elements only.

Cakes were:
-Little Prince: lemon cake with limoncello syrup, blueberry cheesecake ganache;
- Rose: vanilla cake with cream and homemade raspberry jam;
- Fox: vanilla cake with cream and homemade mango and passionfruit jam.
