Recently, I had a conversation about work culture and came across this image. We all had different ideas about what should be in the jar but agreed that culture is definitely something more than boundaries, recognition and communication. For me, culture should be built on a foundation of trust that you are safe at work. By this I mean, psychologically safe. Safe from poor management, safe from vilification when things go wrong and safe from isolation within your immediate team.

We all need to be confident that our wellbeing matters at work. If you wake up feeling dread about being at work or anxious about dealing with a toxic colleague, reach out to someone. Things don’t have to stay the same. You can take back control and make changes.
