We're so excited for the next round of Trusty Tails Novice Scentwork Classes! 🎉
Have you ever wanted to give your dog a fun activity that taps into what they do best? Scentwork is an incredible way to build your dog's confidence, provide mental enrichment, and strengthen your bond. All while having heaps of fun!
Whether your dog is young, old, energetic, or a little shy, scentwork is suitable for almost every dog. No previous experience is needed, just bring your dog's nose and a willingness to learn!
✨ What to expect:
* Beginner-friendly classes designed for dogs new to scentwork
* Learn the foundations of scent detection through fun, rewarding games
* Build confidence, focus, and problem-solving skills
* Small class sizes with guidance from the Trusty Tails Behavioural Training team
* A welcoming and supportive environment for both dogs and handlers
About your trainer: at Trusty Tails we are experienced Scentwork trainers. We compete in ANKC trials and non competitive trials, most importantly we train and work with operational medical alert and detection dogs as well as conservation detection dogs. We train and deploy Medical Alert and response Assistance Dogs who are out there saving they’re human’s lives every day as well as dogs that help preserve our beloved native wildlife. 🐾 Trusty Tails Social Walks are coming! 🐾
We're excited to announce the launch of our Trusty Tails Social Walks, starting Sunday, 9th August! 🎉
Our social walks are a fantastic way for dogs to practise staying calm and neutral around other dogs in a safe, supportive environment. Whether you're looking to build your dog's confidence or reinforce good walking manners, these walks are a great opportunity.
✨ What to expect:
- Fortnightly social walks
- Sign up for each walk individually
- Trainers Nikki and Alice will be there to provide guidance and support if needed
- Walk locations and sign-up details will be announced closer to each date

Loved our Introduction to Scentwork course? Keep the fun going by joining our Intermediate Scentwork classes and continue building your detection dog team skills! Of course you're also welcome if you have done scent fundamentals elsewhere!
Over this 5-week course, you and your dog will:
🐾 Follow odour beyond the training apparatus and into different containers
🐾 Introduce a second target odour
🐾 Learn interior and exterior searches
🐾 Explore exciting new search environments
🐾 Develop your ability to read your dog's behaviour in novel settings
🐾 Build your dog's confidence and independence
By the end of the course, you'll complete:
🏅 An Advanced Container Search
🏅 A Novice Interior Search
🏅 A Novice Exterior Search
🎁 Oil samples and hides are included to help you continue training at home, and you'll receive a graduation certificate and ribbon to celebrate your achievements.

The last week end has brought us the first part of the WA Scentwork State Trial. What a wonderful experience.
Our Trusty Sniffer Teams were there so let me say first well done to everyone for showing up, and had fun with their dog! That’s what matters the most.
Second I want to congratulate all the Teams who qualified. The first day saw our teams tackle their first advanced searches with some impressive passes! Well done Team Evie, Tram Soda, Team Yardie (I’ve heard that container search was pawfection) and Tram Navy who also scored a Second Place in Advanced Interiors!
The second day our Teams rocked up to add the final Novice Passes to their tally. Great work Team Soda and Team Mavis. A special mention to Team Mavis for bagging a First Place in Container Novice. Everyone in our Trusty Sniffer Circles knows how much this result means. I am so proud of all of you.
Last but not least, aside from ribbons and rosettes a sincere thank you to everyone for trusting their dog and supporting each other. We’re a small group but I love how you guys look out for each other. Thank you all for being proud Trusty Sniffers, for the amazing work you put in with your wonderful dogs daily, for showing up to training with the biggest smiles every time and so much enthusiasm for learning and giving your 110% to every new challenge your “creative” trainer brings for you every time!
