Amnesty WA’s Human Rights Legal Group of Western Australia (HRLG WA) is pleased to announce the launch of our CPD series and CPD accreditation for participation in community legal education! 👏✨

We were able to launch this initiative at the HRLG WA’s first CPD seminar for the year, which was hosted in partnership with Murdoch University and the Ashiana Humanitarian Network on the topic of ‘Contemporary Developments in Australian Refugee Law’.

We would like to thank Dr Mary Anne Kenny for facilitating CPD accreditation as well as Robert Lindsay, Maria Lamattina, Farid Popal, and Dr Mary Nangrahary for speaking at the seminar.

Providing CPD points to our legal activists and law reform campaigners is one means of incentivising participation in our largely volunteer-led projects.

Come down to the Bell Tower from 11am tomorrow to support the local Iranian community and mark the anniversary of the murder of Mahsa Amini, who was murdered whilst in police custody.

Stand in solidarity with the Iranian people who are stepping up against the Iranian regime and their continued, brutal treatment of its citizens like Mahsa.

Incredible work by the UWA group, check out their fascinating periodical below!

The Amnesty UWA committee is proud to present its semester 1 2023 periodical, ILLUMINATE💡

If you didn’t know, the Amnesty team produces a semesterly periodical containing entries and articles about a diverse range of human rights issues and topics written by its committee members! Our title comes from our mission of shedding a light on great wrongs and exposing the facts others try to suppress 🔦

This semester, the Publications team worked to bridge the gap between knowledge and action in which you can find relevant links and resources in our entries to make tangible differences locally and globally 🌏

And if you think you’d like to write (or submit anything we can print whether it’s an illustration or photo!) about a human rights issue you’re passionate about, keep an eye out on our page 👀
