We often get asked, “What kind of books do you read at The Book Club?”

We’ve explored a wide variety of books and genres, and one thing we’ve discovered is that every book sparks a different kind of conversation.

From uplifting stories and historical novels to mysteries and psychological thrillers, every book brings something unique to the room.

At The Book Club it’s about bringing people together through stories, conversation and shared experiences.

What genre would you like to see us explore next?

Sometimes Sharon comes to The Book Club on her own.

Sometimes she brings Susan.

Sometimes Sally, Helen or another friend join her too.

And once she even brought along a friend she trained as a midwife with back in the UK!

Sharon joined us at our very first Book Club and she’s still joining us today.

Whether she arrives on her own or with a crowd, we’re always happy to see Sharon walk through the door. 💕

They say books bring people together, and today was a wonderful reminder of that.

Despite the wet and wild weather outside, the room was filled with warmth, conversation, laughter and connection as we celebrated 10 daytime book clubs with the City of Joondalup.

Our first weekend edition welcomed a lovely mix of familiar faces and first-time guests, proving once again that book lovers never stay strangers for long.

Congratulations to all of our prize winners, and thank you to everyone who spent their Sunday afternoon with us. We loved every minute and hope you did too.

Emma and Clare met at a book club in 2017, but The Book Club idea wasn’t created until a Rottnest camping trip in 2024.

A girls’ trip finally made it out of the group chat and, in the end, only Emma and Clare could make the weekend.

Sitting amongst the swags with wine, nibbles and a few curious quokkas for company, the conversation turned to books, book clubs and the things they loved most about them.

By the end of the trip, the idea for The Book Club had been born and was launched in January 2025!

There’s something special about stepping into a library. 📚

This week we popped into Whitford Library and were reminded of their Quick Reads collection. Perfect for grabbing a new release with a little time pressure!

No matter how big your To Be Read pile is, there always seems to be room for one more book.

Do you agree?
