WHAT IS POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT (PBS)?

PBS is an evidence-based approach that helps us understand the reasons behind behaviour and support people to develop new skills, improve communication, and achieve a better quality of life.

🌟 PBS is NOT about changing the person.
🌟 PBS is about understanding behaviour, teaching skills, and creating supportive environments where people can thrive.

How PBS can help:
βœ… Improve communication
βœ… Build independence and life skills
βœ… Support emotional regulation
βœ… Strengthen family relationships
βœ… Reduce behaviours of concern
βœ… Increase participation at home, school, work and in the community

At Morph Therapy Services, we help families understand their child and work together to create practical, positive solutions that make everyday life easier.

Our team speaks:

🏑 SDA EXPLAINED – WHAT DOES THE NDIS PAY FOR?

Many people ask:

❓ β€œWill the NDIS pay my rent?”
❓ β€œDo I get a free house if I have SDA?”
❓ β€œAre support workers included?”

The answer is: Not exactly.

βœ… NDIS MAY PAY FOR:
β€’ The specialist disability accommodation (SDA) building
β€’ Accessibility features
β€’ Wider doorways
β€’ Accessible bathrooms
β€’ Ceiling hoists
β€’ Assistive technology built into the home
β€’ High Physical Support, Fully Accessible, Robust, or Improved Liveability housing

❌ NDIS DOES NOT PAY FOR:
β€’ Your groceries
β€’ Electricity, gas, water, or internet
β€’ Furniture
β€’ General living expenses
β€’ Your rent contribution

πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ WHAT ABOUT SUPPORT WORKERS?

Support workers are usually funded separately through:

βœ… SIL (Supported Independent Living)
or
βœ… Other NDIS support budgets

🏠 SDA = The specialist home
πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ SIL = The support workers
πŸ’° Participant = Contributes towards rent and living costs

🌟 Why do people apply for SDA?

Because SDA can provide:
βœ” Safer housing
βœ” Greater independence
βœ” Better accessibility
βœ” Improved quality of life
βœ” Long-term housing stability

At Morph Therapy Services, we can assist with:

πŸ“‹ Home & Living Assessments
πŸ“‹ Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)
πŸ“‹ SDA Assessments & Recommendations
πŸ“‹ Home Modification Assessments

Our reports help participants build strong evidence for SDA funding applications and NDIS plan reviews.

🏑 What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

Many people hear about SIL but aren’t sure what it actually includes.

SIL is an NDIS support that helps people with disability live as independently as possible while receiving the daily support they need.

✨ SIL may include:

βœ… Personal care (showering, dressing, grooming)
βœ… Meal preparation and healthy eating support
βœ… Household tasks (cleaning, laundry, shopping)
βœ… Medication support
βœ… Developing daily living skills
βœ… Social and community participation
βœ… Overnight or 24/7 support where required
βœ… Building independence and confidence

❗ SIL does NOT pay for:
❌ Rent
❌ Groceries
❌ Utility bills
❌ Everyday living expenses

How do I access SIL?

The NDIS usually requires evidence showing:
β€’ Why support is needed
β€’ What supports are required
β€’ Why SIL is the most appropriate option

πŸ“‹ This is where assessments are important.

At Morph Therapy Services, we provide:

🏠 Home and Living Assessments
πŸ“Š Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)
πŸ“ Comprehensive reports to support NDIS funding requests
🀝 Support Coordination and Positive Behaviour Support

Our assessments help identify the most suitable living arrangements and the level of support needed to achieve greater independence and quality of life.
