Porcupettes are born with their eyes open and are able to walk within just a few hours after birth. This is in contrast to many other mammal species, whose offspring are born with closed eyes and take several days or weeks to start moving around on their own.
Porcupettes are born with a full set of teeth, which helps them to start eating solid foods as soon as they're able to walk around. Their diet consists mainly of leaves, bark, and other vegetation.
Baby porcupines are often born in a den or burrow, and their mother will nurse them for several months before they start eating solid food. However, they are able to start eating vegetation within just a few days of birth.
Baby porcupines are very vocal and will make a variety of sounds to communicate with their mother and other porcupines. These sounds include whimpers, grunts, and even soft purring noises.
