Great weekend in Bowen, but ultimately not the result we were hoping for. Day one we took it carefully conserving belts, and we got a little held up putting a fire out on a competitors car (video to come tomorrow) but we finished issue free and without major losses.

Day two we planned to be a little more aggressive but still conservative on the belt. We were running well until 3 or 4 ks form the finish of the second lap. At about 100kph the car just shut off all power. We assumed the belt went, so pulled up and began the swap. The belt was severely warn but not totally snapped . Unfortunately the belt removal tool snapped off in the clutch housing, forcing us to re-evaluate our options... Cover went back on and we used the remnants of the original belt to limp the last lap and some change. Car shut down a few more times on the way around lap 3, and we think the OEM seat belt bypass is playing up killing the power... With a 1st and second lap speed of around 34minutes and a 3rd lap speed of a little over an 1hr15minutes, we were pretty much hosed.

The win for us was that we managed to drive the car onto the trailer, and we (eventually) finished the another year!
