I spent a year documenting Alaree and Doh, traditional games played once a year in Pankhaiya Para, a place in Khagrachari. These games, once common among the Marma community in the southern Chittagong Hill Tracts, are now mostly seen in rural Bandarban and a few villages like this one.

What’s interesting is that the Chakma, Tripura, and Tanchangya communities also play their own versions of these games. Similar forms are found in Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, and even Laos.
