Implemented a dynamic Article Score system to measure content engagement and effectiveness using Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

The system combines multiple metrics- score, scroll depth, time on page, and user interactions (boosts)- into a single actionable engagement score, giving content teams a real-time, holistic view of user interaction.

𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 & 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐝:
1. JavaScript – for score calculation and event tracking.
2. Google Tag Manager – for dynamic Data Layer events and tagging.
3. Google Analytics 4 – for capturing and analyzing engagement metrics.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝:
Standard metrics like pageviews, bounce rate, or average time on page fail to fully capture true content engagement.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐬:
1. Article Score – composite metric for user engagement.
2. Boost Events – tracks meaningful user actions (e.g., form submissions, key link clicks).

Together, these provide more accurate, actionable insights into how users interact with articles.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 & 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬?
Article Score is a dynamic engagement metric (0–100) reflecting:
1. Time on Page – rewards sustained attention.
2. Scroll Depth – indicates depth of content consumption.
3. Article Length – longer articles weighted appropriately.

Boosts are incremental interactions that instantly add to the Article Score, tracking meaningful user engagement.
