Velen van ons hebben het gevoel gehad dat ze dankbaar moesten zijn.
Many of us adoptees grew up with the feeling that they had to be gratefull to have been adopted.

Sommige adoptie ouders hebben dit zelfs letterlijk zo gezegd tegen hun adoptie kind.
Some adoptive parents even told so literally to their child.

Als er (gedrags)problemen waren, lag dat meestal aan het kind: deze had tenslotte al een rugzakje. Er werd niet getwijfeld aan de goede bedoelingen van adoptie ouders, en of zij überhaupt geschikt waren om voor jou als adoptiekind te zorgen.
Most of the time the problems were due to the childs’ trauma’s without any doubt about the good intentions of the caretakers. But what if they weren’t even fit for parenting and the child’s behavior was just all a natural respons?

👂Listen to adoptees without any prejudice.

Today is the day we remember all adoptees that have gone from this life. Whether murdered, disappeared, passed away or stepped out of this life. So they will not be forgotten. 🕯️

*adoptees have a higher chance of 4% to commit suïcide and 36% more have suïcidal thoughts… We need to take a moment to realize the struggles they are facing.
