Global Oil Prices Fall as Markets Watch U.S.-Iran Talks

Global crude oil prices edged lower on Tuesday as investors remained cautious amid uncertainty surrounding ongoing diplomatic discussions between the United States and Iran.

Brent crude futures fell by 75 cents to $94.23 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped 85 cents to $91.31 per barrel.

The decline comes after both benchmarks surged more than 5 percent a day earlier due to heightened tensions in the Middle East and concerns over shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.

Market analysts say investors are closely monitoring developments between Washington and Tehran. A potential agreement that could ease regional tensions and reopen key shipping routes may help stabilize oil markets. However, any setback in negotiations could trigger another sharp rise in prices.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical energy corridors, carrying nearly 20 percent of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies. Any disruption in this region has an immediate impact on international energy markets.

Meanwhile, reports of declining U.S. crude inventories have added another layer of uncertainty. Experts believe oil prices are likely to remain volatile until there is greater clarity regarding Middle East tensions and U.S.-Iran negotiations.

Trump Reportedly Clashes With Netanyahu Over Lebanon Escalation

A reported heated phone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has drawn international attention amid rising tensions in Lebanon.

According to a report by Axios, Trump expressed strong frustration over Israel's plans for a major military operation in Beirut. Sources claim the U.S. president warned that such actions could further isolate Israel internationally and worsen instability across the Middle East.

Officials familiar with the conversation said Trump was concerned that escalating the conflict in Lebanon could derail ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Iran and increase the risk of a broader regional confrontation.

The report also states that Trump opposed a proposed strike targeting a Hezbollah commander because of the potential for significant civilian casualties. Following the conversation, Israeli sources indicated that the planned operation in Beirut had been put on hold.

After the call, Trump described the discussion as productive and stated that a major military operation in Beirut would not move forward at this time.

Political analysts believe the reported exchange highlights growing tensions between the two leaders and may influence future developments in the Middle East conflict.

ran Suspends Indirect Talks with the United States Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Iran has reportedly suspended its ongoing indirect talks with the United States, according to Tasnim News Agency. The move comes in response to Israel’s announcement of expanded military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Iranian negotiators have reportedly halted message exchanges that were being conducted through international mediators, making prospects for a ceasefire and diplomatic breakthrough even more difficult.

Meanwhile, the United States claims it carried out defensive strikes against Iranian radar and drone facilities following the downing of a U.S. drone over international waters. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later announced retaliatory action against a military installation allegedly connected to the attack.

The escalation is already affecting global markets, with oil prices jumping more than $5 per barrel amid fears of a wider regional conflict.

As tensions continue to rise among Iran, the United States, Israel, and Hezbollah, concerns are growing over the possibility of further instability across the Middle East.

France Bars Israeli Officials from Eurosatory Defense Exhibition

France has imposed a ban on the participation of Israeli government representatives at the upcoming Eurosatory international defense exhibition in Paris, one of the world's largest military and security trade shows. The decision has been officially confirmed by Israel's Ministry of Defense.

The restriction not only affects government officials but also places significant limitations on Israeli defense manufacturers. According to French authorities, Israeli companies will not be allowed to display offensive weapons or military systems. Only air defense-related products and technologies will be permitted at the exhibition.

The move comes just one week after France reportedly imposed entry restrictions on Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The controversy intensified following the circulation of a video showing detained flotilla activists sitting on the floor with their hands and eyes bound, while Minister Ben-Gvir appeared to be expressing satisfaction with the situation. The footage sparked criticism and renewed international scrutiny.

Analysts believe France's latest measures could signal growing diplomatic tensions between Europe and Israel, while also reflecting a tougher European stance regarding the ongoing situation in Gaza and the wider Middle East.

Hezbollah Claims Destruction of Israeli Iron Dome Launcher in Drone Strike

Lebanon's Hezbollah movement has claimed responsibility for destroying an Israeli Iron Dome missile defense launcher in a drone attack, according to footage released by the group on Monday.

Hezbollah stated that an explosive-laden drone targeted an Iron Dome launcher deployed at the Biranit military base in northern occupied territory. The released video allegedly shows the drone identifying and striking the target directly.

The group said the operation was carried out in response to what it described as Israeli ceasefire violations and continued attacks on villages in southern Lebanon.

According to local reports, Hezbollah has recently intensified attacks against Israeli military infrastructure near the border, including air defense systems, military vehicles, radar installations, and troop concentrations.

Hezbollah also claimed that two Israeli armored vehicles were destroyed in the Debaal area of southern Lebanon using "Ababil" kamikaze drones.

Israeli authorities had not immediately commented on the claims at the time of reporting.

No Nuclear Negotiations with the United States, Says Iran’s Foreign Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Tehran is currently engaged in no negotiations or dialogue with the United States regarding nuclear issues. Speaking during a parliamentary briefing, he emphasized that Iran is fully prepared to face any situation.

According to Iranian officials, a new strategic approach is being developed regarding the future management of the Strait of Hormuz, while the regional security landscape has fundamentally changed in recent months.

Iran also stressed the importance of maintaining a ceasefire in Lebanon and highlighted growing concerns over regional instability.

Iranian leaders argue that recent developments have reshaped the geopolitical balance in the Middle East and may lead to a tougher stance in future diplomatic efforts.

Analysts suggest that the absence of direct negotiations between Iran and the United States could make efforts to reduce tensions in the region even more difficult.

Australia’s Farmland Crisis: A Massive Mouse Plague Devastating Crops

In Australia’s vast agricultural heartlands, farmers are facing an overwhelming crisis as a severe mouse plague spreads across major farming regions. What was once a seasonal nuisance has now escalated into a full-scale agricultural disaster.

Farmers report that mice are invading homes, barns, and vast crop fields—destroying wheat, canola, barley, and lupins at an alarming rate. Entire harvests are being wiped out, forcing farmers to replant crops or use costly preventive measures such as poison-treated “sterile bait seeds” to control the outbreak.

One farmer, Geoff Cosgrove, who manages a 14,000-hectare farm in Western Australia, describes the situation as both financially and mentally exhausting. He says the cost of control measures alone is enormous, but the emotional toll is even greater. According to him, the mice are everywhere—running across ceilings, inside air conditioning systems, and around homes at night.

“You can hear them, you can even smell them,” he says. “It feels like decay is everywhere.”

Cosgrove, who has been farming for 25 years, believes this year’s outbreak is far worse than the devastating 2021 mouse plague that caused massive damage across New South Wales and Queensland. That outbreak was so severe it even forced authorities to relocate prisoners from affected facilities due to widespread infestation.

This year, the crisis began escalating in March in Western Australia and later spread to South Australia, raising alarm among agricultural experts and local farmers.

Farmer and agricultural expert Belinda Estaff, who works on a 5,500-hectare farm, says the situation is now even worse than previous outbreaks. She recalls that in 2021, mice were everywhere—even inside personal belongings and kitchens. But this time, the damage is more concentrated in the fields, where food is abundant.

Last year’s record harvest left large amounts of grain scattered across fields, providing an easy food source for mice. Combined with summer rains that encouraged fresh vegetation growth, the rodents now have access to both grain and green crops—“like having steak and salad at the same time,” she explains.

As the plague spreads, farmers are warning that without urgent and large-scale control measures, the financial and environmental impact could be devastating for Australia’s agriculture sector.
