SpaceX started as a private aerospace firm in Hawthorne, California, aiming to cut launch costs dramatically—now 97% cheaper than 1960s Russian rockets—by building rockets in-house. Its first success came with Falcon 1 reaching orbit in 2008, followed by Dragon spacecraft delivering cargo to the International Space Station in 2012. Key Rockets:

Future Goals:
