On a grass slope at 3am (shoutout to Skunked Out Sound for the awesome party that had preluded, I’m hearing Gillis Winderickx ‘s story of his attempted su***de, and how it’s depth led him to reconnect with his community, family, friends, but most importantly with himself.

Whether looking at it in need of a reminder, or accidentally glancing at it in the mirror, this depiction of self reflection commemorates his moment of choosing life. Once true, it can always be true. I cannot describe seeing his emotional catharsis when I showed him this illustration, recognising something one have never seen before, but deeply connect with its truth.

Deeply honoured to have my artwork be a conduit of your new found energy, and your trust in my process and way of being.

If anyone reading this is considering choosing no more life over staying alive, or knows someone who does, consider talking to someone.. maybe there is light in your life that you’re not seeing yet. Ps: I’m loving the parallel between a piece of history of my self and studio. The first person to name what exa, I’d love to gift you a tattoo to commemorate you (must have been) being on this journey with me for all this time.
