From last year’s graduating class to real-world opportunity.

We are proud to see STEM U alumni continuing to grow through internships and workplace experience with Cayo Steel and Belize Natural Energy (BNE).

Moments like these reflect the importance of creating pathways that extend beyond the classroom and into meaningful industry exposure, skill development, and career progression.

As this year’s class continues its journey, examples like these help show what is possible when education, training, and opportunity come together.

Opportunities like these are made stronger through the support of partners, employers, and those who believe in expanding pathways for students and young professionals.

We are grateful to Elvira Mendez for hosting STEM U Foundation and students of St. Ignatius High School at the World Bank and for creating the opportunity for them to engage with important conversations around agriculture, innovation, and global development.

During the visit, students learned about AgriConnect and its role in supporting Belize’s agricultural sector through improved market access, stronger yields, and resilience. Experiences like this help students see how STEM connects not only to technical skills, but also to broader systems that shape communities, industries, and future opportunity.

Through the STEM U Global Exchange, students gain exposure that expands perspective, strengthens career awareness, and connects learning with real-world impact. We appreciate the opportunity to have participants and students included in discussions like these and to see them engage with ideas that matter for Belize and beyond.

The return of these students to Belize following their participation in the STEM U Global Exchange reflects the value of providing young people with access to hands-on technical learning, industry exposure, and international educational experiences.

Through this initiative, students from St. Ignatius High School engaged with welding sites, colleges, and industry partners while also gaining broader exposure through visits to institutions including the OAS, the World Bank, and the Embassy of Belize in Washington, D.C. Experiences like these help expand career awareness, strengthen confidence, and connect education with future opportunity.

We appreciate the coverage highlighting not only the students’ return, but also the ambition, growth, and perspective they are bringing back with them to Belize.

As part of the STEM U Global Exchange Program, students from Saint Ignatius High School in Belize had the opportunity to visit PSA Airlines, gaining valuable insight into the aviation industry and the wide range of technical careers that support it.

During the visit, students toured the PSA Airlines maintenance hangar, where they were able to see airline maintenance operations firsthand and learn about the technical expertise required to keep aircraft operating safely and efficiently.

Experiences like this help connect classroom learning with real-world industries while exposing students to new career pathways in STEM and technical fields.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Chris McCartney, Chief Operating Officer of PSA Airlines, for helping make this visit possible. We also thank our partners at Deep Blue Avionics for their continued support in creating opportunities that provide students with meaningful industry exposure.

Through partnerships like these, STEM U Foundation continues working to expand global learning opportunities and inspire the next generation of engineers, technicians, and innovators.

This week marked an important milestone through the STEM U Global Exchange Program, strengthening welding education through international collaboration and hands-on learning opportunities.

Students and instructors from Saint Ignatius High School in Belize are participating in technical training and industry exposure made possible through the continued partnership between STEM U Foundation and EDGE Welding Supply.

As part of this exchange, instructor Armando from Saint Ignatius High School is working alongside industry professionals to further develop his welding expertise and prepare for his first AWS Welder Certification Exam. Experiences like these help expand technical capacity and create new pathways for students and educators in Belize.

STEM U Foundation remains committed to building partnerships that connect education with industry, expand access to globally recognized certifications, and strengthen workforce development opportunities.

We are grateful to our partners at EDGE Welding Supply, AWS, and industry professionals who continue supporting initiatives that help create meaningful opportunities for the next generation.
