Cedarcrest Foundation is seeking a passionate and experienced Cook for its Conference Centre in Belfountain, Ontario You will be responsible for the preparation & design from designated food menus and producing high quality plates both design & taste wise. Reporting to the Cedarcrest Administrator, in this position you ensure that the kitchen operates efficiently, effectively, professionally in a timely way that meets with our high quality standards.

What you will be doing:

Responsible for the preparation & design from designated food menus
Producing high quality plates both design & taste wise
Ensuring that the kitchen operates efficiently, effectively, professionally in a timely way that meets with our high quality standards
Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
Train the kitchen staff in maintaining the order, cleanliness & tidiness of the kitchen
Ensure that the stove, oven and other equipment in the kitchen are cleaned on a regular basis
Clean fridge once a week (or as needed); defrost freezers and clean them
Comply with & enforce sanitation regulations & safety standards
Maintain a positive & professional approach with coworkers & guests
Accuracy & speed in handling emergency situations & providing solutions
Familiar with industry’s best practices
Time management strengths with the ability to multi – task
Knowledge of some diets: gluten, diabetes, cholesterol, lactose and/or dairy free
Adapt menus for the different possible diets

Your experience and skills include:

Expert knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients and procedures
Experience in using different cooking tools, equipment & utensils
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Understanding of food preparation techniques
Ability to withstand long hours of standing, bending and moving around
Basic knowledge of mathematics to make correct measurements of ingredients
Ability to follow recipe instructions
Previous experience managing staff (3 - 5 years)
Previous fine dining experience preferred
Food management, preparation and handling experience required
Highly organized individual with ability to multitask
Reliable means of transportation

This is a part-time position , there is a requirement to work on weekends and some holidays.
