Buying a home built between 1975 and 1997? Check for Poly-B!

Alberta homes built between 1975 and 1997 mainly used Poly-B water systems - and then its defects were discovered and it was removed from use. Many insurance providers will not provide coverage on homes with Poly-B, or charge even higher premiums.

Poly-B is known to deteriorate and fail, often starting as a small leak discretely saturating the inside of your walls, creating a mess of rotten and moldy material that will spread until eventually discovered. Replacing Poly-B is the only sensible solution if you’d like to avoid a headache down the road, or tomorrow, you never know.
