Important Update: IRCC Suspends New Applications for Group of Five and Community Sponsors
As of November 29, 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has temporarily paused accepting new applications from Groups of Five and Community Sponsors under the (PSR) Program. This suspension will remain in effect until December 31, 2025.

This decision comes in response to the current application inventory, stakeholder feedback, and available spaces within the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan. The goal is to reduce the application inventory, allowing for shorter and more predictable processing times for both sponsors and applicants.

However, IRCC will continue processing all previously received PSR applications and remains committed to the resettlement of sponsored refugees in line with the targets outlined in the immigration levels plan. For 2025, Canada plans to welcome 23,000 privately sponsored refugees.
