This Earth Day, we’re reminded that ecological restoration is more than a service — it’s a commitment to the land that sustains us all.
Every native plant we reintroduce, every wetland we help revive, and every habitat we restore brings us closer to a healthier, more resilient planet. Nature has a remarkable ability to heal when given the right support, and we’re proud to work alongside it.
One of our core values at Leaf Ninjas is “We have an affinity for Nature”. Guided by this, we are grateful to share our passion with amazing individuals and organizations who are equally committed to making a positive impact in the different ecosystems and communities we work within.

Poplar Creek in Fort McMurray, heavy recreational use and vegetation loss caused severe creekside erosion. Previous live staking failed due to poor irrigation and maintenance—often undervalued in bids. Plants thrive with expertise, not magic. Very grateful to help the prime contractor and Alberta Transport and Evonomic Corridors.
In 2024, Leaf Ninjas transformed the site:
🌿 Cleared thatch, debris, and noxious weeds to create a blank slate to support the establishment of native plants.
🌱 Harvested and installed live stakes alongside container plants in DirtBags( )and biodegradable h**psquares to suppress aggressive grass and weeds. These shrubs will be the pioneer approach to developing root systems to stabilize the bank.
🛡️ Installed temporary fencing to protect against recreational users and wildlife during plant establishment (though our fences are no match for bears!).
💧 Deployed Leaf Ninjas’ patented remote solar irrigation system, irrigating plants from 8 hours away for two years of consistent care.
📊 Committed to two years of maintenance and monitoring to ensure long-term success.
The result? A stabilized, thriving creekbank that showcases expert ecological restoration. Join our team to restore Canada’s landscapes or partner on your next project. DM us or visit www.leafninjas.ca.

Leaf Ninjas is thrilled to continue working with this season along the North Thompson River where we’re focusing on a vital project to rebuild and stabilize the riverbank, ensuring both protection and sustainability for the future! 🌱🐟
This project is unique in its approach, blending traditional and innovative bioengineering techniques. After cutting back the bank and placing riprap at the base, we’re building up layers of willows to create a solid foundation and seamless slope. At the top, we’ll establish a hedge layer that combines Willow and Poplar stakes, complemented by a variety of native potted plants, including Oregon Grape, Wild Rose, Alders, and Dogwood!
