When people hear the words defund the police, they often think an increase in crime. But really, by defunding the police and reallocating some of the money from the massive budget they have to other areas like social programs in order to PREVENT crime, we CAN actually decrease crime. Crime is most often, if not always, correlated with socioeconomic problems and thus, by eliminating or drastically decreasing those problems by providing those who need support with tools and resources, we can vastly minimize crime rates.
