If you have been following along in my stories lately you’ll know that I’ve started to bake a lot. And I’ve been having fun decorating cookies as . And I couldn’t fight the urge to turn my knitting patterns into cookies. So I did.
Over the next couple of weeks you’ll see the results of that tasty bit of fun. And with it, you’ll find discounts on the featured patterns.
First up - Ribbon W**d and the Fundy Tides Collection. Let me tell you - trying to make cables is much easier with yarn and needles than with royal icing and a piping bag!
The Fundy Tides Collection is on sale for 25% off until Feb 2, while just the Ribbon W**d blanket pattern is on for 30% off until Jan 29th. Link is in my bio!

I finished my hat (pattern by ) last week and it’s already being put to good use. We were going to wait and put a big faux fur pompom on but winter came in September so 🤷🏻‍♀️

The pattern was really clear and fun to knit. I had only ever knit straight 2-colour brioche before, so it was neat to work the increases and decreases to learn how to make the lines move.

I used this tweed acrylic yarn I bought at Tiger (!) # back when we were living in London. I had no immediate purpose for the yarn, but it was cute and found in an unexpected place so I couldn’t resist it. It turned out to be a really great choice for this pattern and purpose. When she gets it dirty I can throw it in the washer. Note that I said “when” she gets it dirty, not “if.”

I just finished weaving in the ends on the sweater (pattern by Midori Hirose) sample I was working on. Just in time to give to Jenn so she can wear it this weekend.
• Believe it or not, I completed the whole thing with half (!) a skein of Jenn’s Alice base in the Lady in Red colourway. The yarn is 50/50 blend of baby camel and silk in lace weight. It’s so soft, but strong, and gorgeous.
• The pattern comes with the option to CO a wider or narrower neck. Jenn chose narrower so that it wasn’t too slouchy and hanging off her shoulders. Unfortunately, I had real troubles with the CO. Trying to manoeuvre the provisional CO for the tubular method given, with the very fine yarn, was extremely difficult, and I eventually gave up on it. I used my own provisional CO method, which was easier, but in the end the neckline was too tight to go over an adult sized head. I realized this when I was already well through the lace section, so there was no way I was going back. Instead I reinserted my needle into the line of stitches just below the CO and then cut the yarn and unraveled above it. Then I worked a few more rows of ribbing and finished with Elizabeth Zimmermann’s sewn BO. Problem solved. If I was to do it again, I would probably CO more stitches, or try to find an even stretchier CO method.
• To see this beauty in person, pop by the booth at this weekend in Vancouver. She will have this and many other of her bases, as well as patterns and/or kits for my Lambton Panes Shawl and Capitol Hills Wrap. She also has the last 3 physical copies of Travel Knits for the Family to sell!
• If you’re lucky enough to be going, have a great time at Knit City this weekend! Can’t wait to see everyone’s photos!
