We're currently looking for blanket donations to help rebuild the sweat lodge at our upcoming cultural camps.

Sweat ceremonies are an important part of the cultural programming we offer for clients in our Detox and Housing Programs. For many participants, these ceremonies provide an opportunity to connect with culture, reflect, heal, and support their recovery journey in a meaningful way.

As we prepare for our upcoming camps, we're collecting blankets that will be used as part of rebuilding and maintaining the sweat lodge.

If you have new or gently used blankets you'd like to donate, we'd greatly appreciate your support. You can drop off at 203 15 Ave SE anytime

Blackfoot Worldview and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.

In the summer of 1938, a young Abraham Maslow spent six weeks living with the Siksika Nation (Blackfoot) in southern Alberta. This immersive experience deeply challenged his early psychological hypotheses and inspired the foundational philosophies behind his famous hierarchy of human needs.

A Shift in Philosophy

While Maslow’s Western adaptation placed individual self-actualization at the absolute peak, the indigenous Blackfoot perspective flips this concept. The Siksika worldview views self-actualization as an inherent birthright.
