Listen till the end for the full story. Days after the event and crazy global media attention she would like to share a few words about the event her last couple of days. It's been crazy, every big media outlet came knocking. Hear what she has to say...

I slept in on my day off, so I chose this 6 km hike instead of a longer mission. As a guide, I do these “exercise hikes” to stay ready, so you can count on me when we head into the mountains together.

I like to get off trail, explore, and not see a single other person just me and the animals. When people ask why I don’t work a regular 9–5, it’s because if I’m not guiding, my Friday looks like this… and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

30M views on TikTok — watch till the end!
One of my clients sent me this video after an unfamiliar woman stormed into their cabin at a wilderness lodge here in Alberta. She had just had a close encounter with a Grizzly — she went to walk her dog alone in prime Grizzly habitat, known for heavy bear activity. She was carrying a bear bell (that's basically ringing the dinner bell — I advise against it) but NO bear spray. Bears are extremely curious about dogs, as shown in this video. I'm sharing this for educational purposes because situations like this are extremely dangerous for both humans and animals. This could have been prevented. She was unprepared and/or poorly informed — and should have known better. Always carry bear spray! If something had actually happened, that bear would have been put down — and it could have been completely prevented if she had used bear spray the first time he came too close. Please come prepared!

More and more people come to the mountains not just to see them, but to experience them beyond the pullout parking lots and quick photo stops.

Most people aren’t looking for another crowded lookout.
They want a wilderness and backcountry experience that isn’t shared with hundreds of tourists all lined up to see the same thing.

That’s why Gerard booked a wilderness escape with me.

Gerard was kind enough to share his experience on camera to help other people decide whether a backcountry adventure with me is the right fit for them. Hearing it in his own words is the best way to understand what these trips really feel like.

In this new testimonial video, he talks about what it’s like to trade busy parks and rushed tours for a wilderness/backcountry experience in a comfortable, raw form of glamping, where you sleep comfortably, eat amazing food, and still feel fully immersed in the wild.

We hiked off the beaten path, cooked good food over the fire, and built a camp that was comfortable without losing the raw, untouched feel of the backcountry. Safety was dialed, details were handled, and Gerard could actually switch off and just be outside.

If you’ve been thinking about a trip like this but want something genuine, personal, and well run. Gerard’s story will give you a clear idea of what to expect.

Amazing campfire Alberta prime Tomahawk, the best beef in the world according to myself and many people who have tried it. Grilled on the campfire coals, it tastes even better.
Paired with a Rioja Tempranillo red wine, baked potato with sour cream, chives and bacon and roasted carrots. 🥳

There are few better meals you can eat in the wilderness!

🐊 Are Crocs actually toxic? Here's the honest answer.

I'll be the first to admit it, I love my Crocs. They live in my pack all summer. After a long day guiding in the mountains, nothing beats sliding into them at camp. And if I need to wade across a shallow creek or walk a muddy trail back to the truck, they're perfect. Are they ugly? Absolutely. Do I care? Not even a little. 😄

But lately, there's been a lot of fear floating around online about Crocs leaching toxic chemicals through your skin, so I looked into it. And the truth is more nuanced than the headlines suggest.

Crocs are made from Croslite™, a PEVA foam, a plastic, yes, but one of the safer ones. There's no solid scientific evidence that wearing authentic Crocs causes harmful chemicals to absorb through your feet, even in summer heat.

The real risks worth knowing:
⚠️ Cheap knock-offs and no-brand foam clogs (especially from platforms like Temu) have tested positive for lead and phthalates at genuinely dangerous levels. Stick to the real brand. These are absorbed through the skin and can cause damage.
⚠️ Third-party decorative charms from unverified sellers have been found to contain up to 13% phthalates by weight — well above safe limits, especially for kids.

So wear them around camp, wear them through rivers, wear them wherever they make sense. Just know what you're actually buying, and leave the trail work to proper boots. 🏔️

Stay safe by buying original Crocs, also for your children.

Right now, bull elk are growing a brand‑new set of antlers.
That fuzzy layer is called velvet – it’s full of blood and nutrients, and it helps the antlers grow fast through spring and summer.
When the antlers are done growing, they harden into bone. The velvet dries up, and the bulls rub it off on trees.
By the rut, that soft velvet has become hard, polished antlers they use to show off and battle other bulls.

Having some fun with calling in a group of Elk cows. We made a calf in distress sound which got them curious enough to come in to a 100 meters. The mature cows (female elk) have that motherly protective instinct we played on. That was enough for them to come check us out.
