Bringing Home Our Missing—
Using DNA Genealogy to find Missing and Murdered Relatives.

Kayās: Community DNA— by Frog Lake Library & Trouvay · Luma 04/03/2026

What if you could find your ancestors & help bring home Missing and Murdered Relatives at the same time?

That's what's happening in Frog Lake First Nations.

Last year we partnered with the Frog Lake Library to begin the Kayas: Community DNA project.

In Phase 1 community members explored their family trees and learned the basics of DNA testing.

Next week in Phase 2, community members will interpret their results to find family & learn how they can share their DNA to help bring home The Missing.

Stay tuned for the incredible stories to come of a community centered on finding truth 🤍

“We’ve sewn the ribbon skirts, marched in the walks, and held enough vigils. Now that we can, it’s time to actually bring Them home.” —Mary Dustow

Meet Mary Dustow, our Director of Community Partnerships.

Mary is a proud member of Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, deeply connected to her community & culture.

Mary and Bradley crossed paths at the Settlement office, and the fireworks of excitement were immediate.

United by a passion for the Missing and Murdered and the power of DNA to uncover truth, she joined the Trouvay team in 2024.

Today, Mary ensures our relations are built in a good way, with one goal in mind: bringing the missing home.
