Unpopular opinion for a dietitian:
I don't post "What I Eat in a Day" videos.
(Today's version belongs to my cat 😺).
I know these are popular but they can easily turn into food comparison.
A single day of eating from one person doesn't always reflect reality.
Hunger cues, stress, schedule - all of these shape how we eat, and these don't make it into a 30 sec video.
If you've ever compared your eating to someone online and felt like you were "doing it wrong" you're definitely not alone!
🤔 I'm curious - how do you feel about "What I eat in a day" videos?
📢 I was on CBC radio last week chatting about the new US dietary guidelines.
The bottom line?
Nutrition is more nuanced than a pyramid.
🚩 These guidelines lack cultural diversity, flexibility, and they don't have enough evidence to support the recommendations that they make.
This is a problem!
