slow dance lab

The slow dance lab began in 2013 as a way for Sally Morgan to begin to more publicly engage in ecosomatic dance, performance, and movement research.

Sally Morgan works on/in the borderlands between body and place, performance and ecology, improvisation and the everyday, and is deeply rooted in embodied ethics and site responsive practices. Her work questions our everyday movements in and with the environment as embodied acts of performance.

She develops frameworks for how to consider the body as place and place as body, moving towards a slow pedagogical understanding of ecosomatic practices as therapeutic tools.

‘Slow dance’ metaphorically refers to our pause, our patience with our bodies/selves/others, our sense of time/body time, our quality of attention, our care and responsiveness to our environment, our availability and willingness to tune into our sensuous bodies. (Not unlike the ‘slow food’ movement, it is my take on a slow pedagogy for dancing.)
