Mechanical Flood Protection

Not all sump pump installs are created equal. This home had a pump dropped into a shallow hole without a basin, surrounded by gravel and concrete that could jam the float switch. Add a leaky discharge hose and an exterior line at risk of freezing, and it is no surprise the basement flooded after heavy rainfall.
The permanent fix is a properly installed sump basin, a reliable primary pump, smart battery backup, and solid schedule 40 PVC discharge piping. A small upgrade now can prevent a major cleanup later.
