There tends to be a lot of confusion about what Art Therapy actually is, and I can understand why! It can be super confusing to understand licensure, titles and credentials and how they differ across the field.

Art Therapy is more than simply adding art into a therapy session. It is a specialized mental health profession that combines psychotherapy, psychology, creative process, and clinical training.

Becoming an Art Therapist involves dedicated education, supervised clinical experience, and specialized training in the therapeutic use of art and creativity.

While many therapists may thoughtfully incorporate creative approaches into their work, Art Therapists are specifically trained in how the creative process can support emotional expression, meaning-making and healing.

In our studio, every therapist on our team has completed specialized Art Therapy training. We created this space to be a home for Art Therapists & a place where people seeking Art Therapy can find support.
