It seems safe to say that most of us are guilty of trying to help, fix, or make someone else's problem better from time to time (us to!). And it comes from a wonderful place: wanting to show them you care, wanting to help, and soothing our own sense of helplessness.
That being said, it's usually not what the other person needs. Our partners are capable, independent beings who can usually figure out what will work best for them - that's one reason we love them! Most people just want a listening ear and empathy. 
Here are our top tips for mastering the art of listening:
1. As at the beginning of a conversation: “Are you looking for a listener or an advisor?”
2. Take a stance of curiosity & ask questions
3. Identify emotions in their story
4. Reflect emotions back, summarize what you understood, and validate!

RelationSips is ran by Claire Pecora, a Registered Psychotherapist and Alex Amey, Wine Director of The Frontenac Club Inn and WSET Certified. After the emotional turbulence of the last few years, RelationSips looks to offer a space that facilitates the deepening of connections in the relationships that matter most.

🍷Upcoming Events in March🍷
First, RelationSips will be stepping in to host The Frontenac Club's monthly Wine Club on March 13th from 3:30 to 5:00PM.
This event will more so highlight the wine tasting side of what RelationSips has to offer with flavours of the relationship activities. Due to this balance of activities, the content can be geared to more types of relationships rather than just couples.
Next, we’ll be hosting our Date Night Event at the Four Points by Sheraton Kingston on March 24th from 7:00 to ~9:00PM.
This event will allow you and your partner to relax into the evening with a tasting of four wines, expertly paired with activities of relationship strengthening.
