Getting ready to start monitoring this location again in a couple weeks! Here are some fast moving Rainbow Trout exiting a fishway at a small hydroelectric dam on the Saugeen River near Hanover, Ontario. We have monitored passage at this fishway every spring and fall since 2018 as part of an ongoing project regarding the removal of a lower dam. Recorded on one of our mobile BRAVO fish monitoring and counting systems.

Most of you are familiar with our radiotelemetry work, but did you know we also spend ~5 weeks each summer electrofishing 26 sites across the main-stem of the Saugeen, as well as in Otter and Meux Creeks, the Beatty Saugeen, South Saugeen and Styx Rivers? Staff are busy preparing to move up to our Walkerton basecamp and we’ll be out sampling everyday from July 15 to the second week of August. If you see us- come say hi!
