No Limits Goaltending

We’ve seen a lot of comments lately along the lines of “there’s nothing for youth to do” and “someone needs to open a place for kids to hang out.” So we’re pulling Coach Kyle’s response out of the comments and making it a proper post.

First, huge shoutout to JRMCC, Kikinahk, and Piwapin for the youth programming they already run. The Town, Village, and library do their part too. Tag any other organizations we missed because they deserve the recognition. Whether it’s minor sports or other organizations, a small group of people in this community are working hard to make things happen and they can always use more help so this is our subtle nudge to find an organization or cause you’re passionate about and volunteer some time with them.

The ice is out for the summer, which means Coach Kyle has some evenings free. We’re willing to take the lead on trying some new programming this summer but we want to hear from the people asking for it.

What do you actually want to see? Where should it be hosted? Who’s going to help? How does it get paid for? If you’ve got youth in your lives you’re hoping the programming reaches, talk with them. We want to know what’s going to actually engage them and what they’re going to actually show up and participate in.

A huge congratulations going out to No Limits goalie Emerson who had an incredible weekend at the FSIN Youth Hockey Championships in Saskatoon! Emerson was solid all weekend and backstopped the U13 Lac La Ronge Indian Band 89ers to a Gold Medal victory in a hard fought game against Big River First Nation. To top it off, he also won the Top Goalie award for the U13 division. It was a close game throughout, and Emerson came up with some big saves at big moments to keep the boys in it.

Congratulations Emerson and the rest of the U13 89ers on a fantastic weekend! 🏅🏅🏆

Hey La Ronge Minor Hockey U7 & U9 players! We’re super excited to be finishing the season off with a Try Goalie event! Come on out to JRMCC on Sunday March 29th from 1-3pm and try the greatest position in hockey!

We’ll have part of the ice opened up for shinny so you can play around when you’re not in net - the other part of the ice will be where you can throw our Bauer Learn To Save gear on and make some saves. Please make sure you wear your full player equipment!

If you’ve thought about trying goalie before but didn’t want to commit to a full practice in goalie gear this is for you! The Learn to Save gear goes on over your player equipment, and Coach Kyle can have you in and out of it in about a minute! If you’re in net and don’t like it, you can just swap right back to playing shinny in no time.

We won’t have formal registration for this event and there’s no cost. If you’re with LRMH U7 or U9 please connect with your coaches so we can make sure we have enough supervision on the ice.

And last but not least, we would like to introduce you to Graham Brown. For the majority of the season, Graham was our lone 20 year old. He carried that responsibility with pride, leadership, and heart.

When he wasn’t in the crease, you could often find him working part-time at the Nisto Ihtawina Early Childhood Family Resource Centre, helping at goalie coaching clinics, and spending time connecting with youth in the community. Graham understood that being part of this organization meant more than just playing hockey, it meant giving back.

The impact Graham has had on our community, our organization, and our locker room is something that won’t soon be forgotten.

As our graduating player this season, we want to thank Graham for his leadership, his resilience, and for always keeping his head held high through it all. Thank you for believing in this team and this community.
