Bladder stones in dogs are hard, rock-like mineral formations that develop in the bladder and can cause significant discomfort. Common signs include frequent urination, straining to urinate, accidents in the house, licking at the urinary area, and blood in the urine. The two most common types of bladder stones are struvite and calcium oxalate, each requiring different treatment approaches.

Depending on the type and size of the stones, treatment may involve a prescription diet designed to dissolve them, specialized medical management, or surgical removal. Early diagnosis is important to help prevent complications and keep your pet comfortable.

🚨 A urinary blockage is a life-threatening emergency. If your dog is unable to urinate, producing only a few drops, or showing signs of severe discomfort, seek veterinary care immediately.

If you notice any changes in your dog's urinary habits, don't wait, schedule an exam with your veterinarian. 🐾
