Babies attempt to express themselves in words with meaning anywhere between 9 and 14 months. But babies start learning how to speak right after birth, mainly by watching and listening to you and other people!👶🏾

The best way to help your baby say its first words is to talk to them a lot! Your baby will be eager to pick up on your verbal cues.🗣

Try to narrate your day, describe what you’re doing as you dress your baby, cook dinner or walk down the street. Speak the names of objects and people. Read to your baby, pointing out objects and their names in the pictures it sees!📖

Believe it or not, it’s just as appropriate to hear a child’s first words at either end of that age range or any age in between. Remember, every child develops at their own pace!✨♡

A fun way to engage phonemic awareness skills is by playing the game I-Spy, but instead of colours, play with sounds. Plus, it’s mobile; you can take this game anywhere, so it’s perfect for busy families on the go!🙌🏼

This game helps them focus and identify the initial letter sound in words, an important building block for strong reading as they grow.✨♡
