This weekend's project involved building a solid foundation for a new wooden dock-style step in front of a backyard shed, along with preparing concrete footings for a future privacy screen installation.

What started as a simple step quickly turned into a lot of excavation and groundwork. The area was dug out approximately 6 inches deep, then filled and compacted with gravel and ¾" aggregate stone to create a stable base that won't sink, shift, or become uneven over time. Taking the extra time on the foundation work is what helps ensure the finished structure stays level and solid for years to come.

The project also included digging and pouring two separate concrete footings that will be used to securely anchor privacy screen posts. Proper footings are one of the most important parts of any fence or screen installation, helping prevent movement caused by wind, weather, and seasonal ground changes.

A lot of the work on projects like this happens below the surface and often goes unnoticed, but that's where the long-term durability comes from.

Here’s a recent landscaping and exterior repair project completed locally. This one involved quite a bit of cleanup and restoration work, including removing heavy w**d growth, trimming and edging around the yard, and clearing out overgrown areas.

On the hardscape side, we repaired loose and misaligned brickwork on the front steps by resetting and securing the stones so everything sits properly again. We also handled detailed work like removing w**ds from between patio stones using a trimmer for a clean finish.

The project also included cutting down an old tree, breaking up and removing the stump, and taking care of disposal to leave the space tidy and usable again.
