A few facts: more than 30 American universities have introduced coaching programs, including Harvard and Yale. According to the International Coach Federation, there are over 19,000 members working in over 116 countries. Professional coaching traces its development to the Human Potential Movement of the 1970s which formed around the idea that individuals have an inner reservoir of extraordinary but oftentimes untapped capabilities.
