Our last Summer Workshop Series was ‘s Intro to Radical Home Economics: choose your own adventure! We made herbal vinegars to be used in a cleaning solution and as a hair rinse, and we talked about ways we can practice sustainability from clothes and cleaning to body care. We learned so much from this zine/workshop which debuted at Rad Frosh years ago! The zine is available in our zine library in the MK kitchen.🍋

Closing our summer workshop series is Radical Home Economics - practical and revolutionary skills for home and personal care. We'll explore some of the principles & approaches, tips and tricks, and discuss the potential of Rad Home Ec as a site for blooming personal and communal transformation. We'll look at DIY house cleaning and body care products, sewing and sustainable alternatives, and herbal medicines in your kitchen cupboard and garden.

Participants will get to take home their own DIY herbal vinegars.

This workshop is based on the zine of the same name published for McGill's Rad Frosh over a decade ago with new insights. It was originally inspired by the experience of trying to tackle the complicated and at times very strained relationship people can have with home & body care in day to day life.

Pamela Andi Fillion is a disabled q***r settler, artist, survivor, activist, crafter, keen fermenter, community organizer, and sometimes scholar. The kitchen and working with and around food is what Pamela considers her hearth. Blueberryjams is the result of a lively concoction of all of her interests and skills. Blueberryjams offers a variety of crafted products, penned texts, and skillshares with a focus on DIY, radical home economics, and herbalism through an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, and community.
