I’ve noticed a growing misconception in our industry lately: the idea that because design software is getting smarter, the designer’s job is getting shorter.

There’s a persistent myth that we just click an "AI" button and a fully realized, structurally sound, aesthetically balanced room pops out in seconds. While I’m the first to celebrate how our tools are evolving, here’s the reality:

• Software is a tool, not the talent. A faster engine doesn’t mean the race drives itself. It just allows us to go deeper into the details—lighting physics, material textures, and spatial flow—that weren't possible ten years ago.

• AI doesn't have "taste." AI can generate a pretty picture, but it can’t understand your lifestyle, the way the morning sun hits your specific breakfast nook, or how to navigate a tricky building code.

• Efficiency equals Quality, not "Fast Food." If a rendering takes less time to "process," that saved time is immediately reinvested into refining the palette, sourcing sustainable materials, and ensuring the technical drawings are flawless.

We aren't just "drawing rooms"; we are engineering experiences. The software might be faster, but the vision, the problem-solving, and the hours of meticulous curation remain human-led.
