I think Mark Carney just made the most damaging decision trying to “strengthen his relationship” with China by allowing visa free travel. China should be isolated by the west and our changing relationship with the USA should not radically change our core values as a western country.

China is known for:

1. Suppressing dissent in its citizens through brutal tactics as we saw in hong kong.

2. Use of a sick social credit score system that demeans and controls its people and their freedom of asssociation and personal choice.

3. Repression of Uyghur Sunni Muslims by holding over 1 Million of them in “re-education camps” which are a direct and disgusting attempt to strip them of their identity and culture. And with reports of sterilization’s and forced labour are quite literally concentration camps.

Our country, Canada, should not be close with this government in any way. I do not want any of these values or systems of China to corrupt Canadian society and bringing us closer with them will only exacerbate issues like:

1. Chinese police operating on our soil

2. State owned companies buying Canadian land and resources

3. Spies in our government and universities stealing intellectual property and trade secrets.

I have never been so dismayed by something that I’ve felt that it’s in my best interest to begin to look for other countries to live in, but here we are.

If there aren’t severe political consequences for Mark Carney as a result of this decision then it proves that the Canadian electorate are either politically uneducated or apathetic. This should be a non-partisan issue.

Write to your representative.

Make this an issue he cannot deflect to avoid.

This isn’t about conservative or liberal, this is about Canada.

You want elbows up politics, I hope it applies to countries that are doing worse things than the USA, as listed above. I pray Canadians are not asleep at the wheel.
